Giorgia grew up in Trapani a beautiful town located on the seaside of Sicily. She moved to Palermo University where she completed her bachelor’s degree in Biotechnology and her Master’s degree in Medicine Biotechnology. In 2014 she completed her PhD research at the lab of Biochemistry in Palermo, Italy. During which, she worked on nanotechnology applied to biological system. Giorgia further explored this field during her Postdoctoral research studies, focused on the development of a novel system for the controlled drug and gene delivery. Giorgia will be involved in the characterization of EVs from natural sources. Christopher grew up in Coonoor a beautiful hill station located in the South of India. He moved to Loyola College in Chennai where he completed his Bachelor’s degree in Plant Biology and Plant Biotechnology. He also has as Master’s degree in Biotechnology. In 2013 he started his PhD research at the lab of mass spectrometry and proteomics in Naples, Italy, under the guidance of Dr. Gabriella Pocsfalvi. During which, he worked on “Advances in extracellular vesicles isolation methodologies for kidney surveillance. A pain free strategy”. Christopher will be involved in the development of new methods for the isolation of EVs from natural resources.

Q: JOINT SEMINAR ABOUT EXTRACELLULAR VESICLES

The past 5th of February our partners from University of Ljubljana and the Consiglio Nazionale della Ricerche gather in a first seminar about extracellular vesicles. The event was in Naples, and the speaker was Prof. Veronika Kralj-Iglic who talked about the “Clinical experience with microvesicles”. On February 26th, they will gather again in Naples to talk about "Membrane tubular protrusions and tunnelling nanotubes". This time the speaker will be Prof. Ales Iglic from the University of Ljubljana. The speakers and the organisers are all host researchers from the VES4US project.

Q: VES4US participated in the Futuro Remoto science festival

Futuro Remoto is a real “ Science Festival ” starting from the joint initiative of the seven universities of the Campania region, the MIUR – Office, Regional School for Campania and Fondazione Idis-Città della Scienza, strongly supported by local institutions, by all the main National Research Centers. The event represents a well-established and lively living platform of “social innovation”. This event is focused on raising awareness of the new prospects opened by the latest results of scientific research, culture and technology involving: aerospace, agri-food, energy, green chemistry, Intelligent factory, systems for mobility, life sciences, living environments, smart communities, design and creativity made in Italy and cultural heritage. Participating in the 32 nd edition of Futuro Remoto has been a great opportunity to contact with other projects and network with them, giving the opportunity to spread the word of VES4US project and share ideas. The researchers of Institute for Endocrinology and Experimental Oncology “ G. Salvatore” IEOS of Naples, participated in this event showing an inspiring and educational experience related to life Sciences: demonstrations, videos, hands-on activities and interactive discussion. Q: VES4US participates in the latest FET2RIN event in Brussels

FET2RIN is financed by the FETOpen Call of the H2020 Programme that aims at facilitating collaborations to set the ground for the take up of Future and Emerging Technologies and FET projects. In this context they have organised a set of different webinars that will help to look at a FET project from a business perspective, assessing its strengths and weaknesses on the route to commercialization. We are glad to announce that VES4US was selected for the FET2RIN training course. This course is structed in three workshops that will take place from mid-December 2018 to mid-February 2019 in Brussels. A key message of the webinar was to "focus on potential customers, problems, solutions and early adopters". To reach that goal, they showed how to develop a lean canvas to stay focus on the problems that customers have and generate the perfect solution for those. Also, they taught how to find a customer base for products and projects results with the Javelin Experiment Board. The training was made in collaboration with META , European Crowdfunding Network (ECN), and European Business and Innovation Centre Network (EBN).
